Things To Do In Donegal

Culture, wildlife, quaint towns and villages ... it can only be Donegal

There really is lots to do and see in Donegal during your holiday ... you'll be planning a return visit when you realise a few days isn't enough to pack it all in!

Freedom To Explore

Visit Slieve League or Sliabh Liag which translates as the Mountain of the Flagstones. This is the highest and one of the finest marine cliffs in Europe with a 600m drop into the Atlantic waves - about a 45 minute car drive from Lough Eske Castle.

Places To Enjoy

Glenveagh National Park and Castle is Donegal's primary attraction. There are few, if any, other places where you have the opportunity to see salmon swimming up river to spawn, deer crossing your path and the Golden Eagle flying overhead! There's also Donegal Bay which stretches from Bundoran to Donegal Town and onto Glencolmcille. A tour along this coastline will bring you into some of the most picturesque towns and villages and allow you to witness spectacular coastal views.

Culture To Experience

Donegal people are renowned for their special warmth, welcome and friendliness. You'll experience this first hand at Lough Eske Castle. Donegal also celebrates its varied heritage with a year round calendar of festivals and events providing lots of fun and something for everyone. There will always be something happening to enchant and entertain.

WildLife To Watch

Glenveagh National Park boasts the largest herd of Red Deer in Ireland and has reintroduced the Golden Eagle to Irish Shores. Ard na Mona Wood is also home to the Red Deer, Red Squirrel and Badger and there's walking paths throughout its 120 acres. Pettigo Plateau is a 2000 acre blanket bog and is also worth a visit.
