Lough Eske Castle is thrilled to announce that they have been awarded the Ulster Venue of the Year award at the prestigious Wedding Journal Reader Awards 2018.
The Wedding Journal Awards, hosted the glamorous black tie gala dinner and ceremony event, which was held on Sunday, 24th June in Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin hosted by UTV Ireland Pamela Ballantine. The much-anticipated event recognises Ireland’s hard-working, dedicated and very best professionals in the Irish Wedding Industry. Wedding Journal has been helping brides-to-be plan their perfect wedding since it was successfully launched back in 1996, firmly positioned as Ireland’s best- selling wedding magazine with a readership of over 80,000.

Lough Eske Castle is thrilled to announce that they have been awarded three prestigious awards at the Irish Hospitality Institute (IHI) Founders Banquet & Hospitality Management Awards 2017 to include Denise McDonagh (Spa Manager) won "Young Hospitality Manager of the Year 2017", Catherine Monaghan (Director of Human Resources) won "Hospitality Human Resources & Training Manager of the Year 2017" and last but not least; Geraldine Carty (Front of House Supervisor) won "IHI Hospitality Employee of the Year Award 2017." Additionally, Lough Eske Castle was shortlisted for four awards out of eleven in total, with Karen Dowey (Revenue Manager) also being nominated as Revenue Manager of the Year 2017. Lough Eske Castle is managed by Solís Hotels & Resorts and 2017 marks 10 years since opening their doors in Lough Eske, Co. Donegal. It has been an exhilarating year for the hotel with having been named No.3 in the top hotels in Ireland by Condé Nast Traveler’s 2017 Readers’ Choice Award earlier this year.

Lough Eske Castle a Solis Hotel and Spa, is Donegal’s only 5 star hotel, owned by Harcourt Developments based in Dublin, and property managed by Capella Hotel Group. The celebrations are set to continue as the hotel will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this November. It has been an exciting year for the hotel and is honoured to be accepting this prestigious award just in time for its birthday celebrations.
Despite opening at the beginning of the financial downturn, Lough Eske Castle has seen revenues double, operating at €9.5m today and has recently benefited from a €500k investment into the property.
Since 2007 occupancy has grown by 38% and the average room rate by 43%, with international guest stays increasing by 15%. Opened 365, the castle is one of the largest employers in county Donegal and over 70% of staff are from Donegal.
