The O'Donnell Suite at Lough Eske Castle Hotel is dedicated to one of the founding families of Lough Eske and County Donegal. The O'Donnell clan can be traced back to 1474 in the Lough Eske area, and kept their ‘island prison’ on the lough during their time here. The O'Donnells held court in Donegal for 133 years, and it wasn't until 1607 that the reign came to an end with the Flight of the Earls from Rathmullan in that year.
This beautiful O'Donnell Suite, located in the historic castle, offers over 600 sq ft (55.7 sq m) of exquisite classic luxury. A beautifully hand-crafted mahogany king sized four poster bed, with full canopy and tied bed curtains, provides the focal point of the dual aspect room, with views to the front of the castle. Bed linens are crisp and fresh, while the locally crafted bed throw is soft and sumptuous, both in texture and colour palette. This is a bed made to sink into and not hurry from.
A traditional leather Chesterfield sofa is placed at the foot of the bed, opposite a large fireplace and stone mantle, setting the tone and scale for the opulence of the suite.
